OBITUARY OBITUARY - Band Photo

I was surprised when I got answers on my questions from Trevor Peres of OBITUARY. It's cool! Such monster of Death Metal is well-known by everyone. There's no need to tell their biography here, just read the interview and enjoy it!

It seems to me that in your "Back From The Dead" album you'd returned to your roots. (I mean music, cover, etc.) How you can explain it?
- There really is nothing to explain... We feel we never left what Obituary was all about. (Musically, etc...) If you listen to every Obituary CD back to back you will hear what I mean. Every CD is very heavy in its own right.
The live album "Dead" is your sixth recording. Why you decided to do that album now and not earlier? Where the concert recorded on this album took place?
- Well, Obituary has always wanted to do a live record, but our label never asked us to do one until now. The album was recorded in Boston, Massachusetts.
When you had begun in later 80's under the name Xecutioner had you sometime imagine about such career that you have now?
- Hell no... Everything that has happened with Obituary has been a dream come true.
What is your opinion about WWW as the informational center? Nowadays we can get more information from Internet than from any magazine.
- I think it is very useful, and I think in the future the internet will be more of a tool to help promote Death Metal or any kind of music, more than it does now.
I heard that Allen West departed from Six Feet Under. Can you tell us more about it?
- Yep, Big Al quit, he did not like Chris Barnes telling him what to do. No one likes someone to tell them what to do... FUCK THAT SHIT!!!
Shall we listen the new OBITUARY album in 1998. Have you any new songs, songnames and in generally tell us in what way you composed your songs?
- Nothing as of yet...
In the beginning of 90's Florida (together with Sweden) was the one of the biggest Death Metal center of the world. And what about now? Can you name us some interesting new Death Metal bands from Florida?
- Not really... I am living in Atlanta, Georgia so I don't know what is going on with new bands in Florida right now.
You re-release your first two albums with bonus tracks. Name us these tracks from what recording are these tracks.
- I'm not really sure. Some of the songs are scratch takes prior to the final recordings. Our record label's idea...
Do you know something about Ukraine? (Your band is very popular here. Some of my friends listen your band from 1989)
- Not to much, but it is very cool that people there like us.
Your wishes for Ukrainian OBITUARY fans.
- Thanks for the support, hopefully we will play there one day, peace.
